CAN YOU DISTRIBUTE WATER AND FOOD TO PEOPLE WHO ARE WAITING IN LINE TO VOTE?

The new rules prohibit anyone except poll workers from handing out water to voters in line, and passing out food and water to voters within 150 feet that serves as a poll, inside a polling place or within 25 feet of any voter standing in line.

In other words, passing out food and drink to voters is now criminalized aside from poll workers passing out water to voters.




Overcrowded polling stations with longer lines typically correlate to lower income neighborhoods. Preventing people basic human comfort when waiting to vote actively deters voters from casting their vote.
