IS THERE A HARD STOP ON VOTE TABULATING?

Yes. This law tightens requirements for county elections supervisors, and requires absentee ballots counted by 5 p.m. the day after elections. That means a hard stop on tabulating all votes by the day after election with election certification moved up from 10 days to 6.

A hard stop to counting legally cast absentee votes is a lose-lose for any democracy.

IS THERE A HARD STOP ON VOTE TABULATING?

This isn’t mentioned at all in the Election Code of Georgia. Reading between the lines certification happens when all the votes are counted. Their Commission is bound to publish a report within 60 days of the election so the thinking is it’s less than that.

In addition, delays in publishing results in the October 2020 elections have led some international observers to question ballot tampering.  For further information:

All that said and done, this remains a separate issue to giving a hard stop time to absentee ballots.

Sadly, lack of Georgian Electoral Law guidance on this particular issue makes it impossible to judge fairly.
